PENYELENGGARAAN PERINGATAN HUT KE-79 KEMERDEKAAN RI TAHUN 2024

The 79th Independence Day celebration in Indonesia in 2024 marked a significant milestone as it was the first event of its kind held in the new capital city, Nusantara (IKN), located in East Kalimantan. The festivities embraced the theme 'New Nusantara, Advanced Indonesia', representing the nation's shift to its new administrative center and its ongoing development aspirations. A notable highlight was the ceremonial raising of the national flag in IKN, conducted by President Joko Widodo, while Vice President Ma’ruf Amin led a similar ceremony at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta. This simultaneous event illustrated the spirit of unity and modernization as the country embraced this major transition.

The celebrations at IKN, which featured the main flag ceremony at Garuda Palace, were enhanced by cultural performances and exhibitions that highlighted Indonesia's rich heritage and future aspirations. Despite facing challenges in completing the infrastructure of IKN, the event saw significant participation, with hotels and accommodations in the nearby Sepaku district fully booked. This occasion represented the government's dedication to advancing the capital's development while commemorating Indonesia’s independence.
